RESIDENTIAL PAINTING

Our 5-Step Exterior Painting Process.

There are several procedures necessary for getting a high-quality exterior paint job on your house. Many people watch DIY home improvement shows but don't realize that using the incorrect materials might seriously damage their house. Attempting to paint without adequate preparation or equipment may lead to issues. When using Quality Construction's painting contractors, you can bet on our Five-Step Process to deliver the protection your house needs.

1. Power Wash

Before any materials are applied, all structures will require the removal of dirt, mildew, algae, and/or cobwebs. Power washing is one of the most crucial phases in preparing a house for painting and is critical to ensuring that the paint adheres properly. We'll use a diluted bleach and water solution, or TSP, to help eliminate mold and mildew. We power wash with the proper chemicals and nozzles for the task, then allow surfaces to dry properly.

2. Scraping & Minor Repairs

After power washing, any loose paint must be removed to ensure that the paint is properly applied and will endure longer. We do things the old-fashioned way, which means scraping by hand with knives and wire brushes to get rid of flaking, bubbled, or loose paint. The surface is smoothed and taut with this method, which ensures proper paint contact. Most repairs can be handled by our skilled staff. We'll even clean up the mess after we're done!

3. Priming

With the groundwork completed, your home's surface will be smooth and clean for priming. Painting contractors apply premium bonding primers to all exposed surfaces, which seal the surface and give a solid basis for subsequent finish-coat products to adhere correctly. 


Exterior wood surfaces will be coated with a primer covering most of the weather cracking and providing a smooth, uniform finish. Under certain circumstances, our painting contractors may encourage a full coat of primer if the wood is considerably new or weather-beaten.

4. Caulking & Glazing

We caulk any seams, joints, cracks, nail holes, and significant wood joints. Any loose glazing is taken out and replaced to guarantee a tight seal and minimize air leaks and moisture entry points in vulnerable spots. All exterior windows, structural joints, and wood doors are caulked with siliconized latex caulk.

5. Painting or Staining

Color samples are advised to ensure that you're satisfied with the colors in your home. The homeowner is responsible for any color changes necessary under Homeowners' Associations rules. At the time of your estimate, we'll go through the many options for painting or staining, the planned application, and some advantages and drawbacks of each approach.
